- 2023: Slow News Day
Nothing super interesting happened on this day in WSOP history, so here's a factoid: The first World Series of Poker to consist of freezeout tournaments was 1971, which included four Limit games (Ace-to-Five Draw, Razz, Seven-Card Stud, and Five-Card Stud) and one No-Limit game, Texas Hold 'Em. These five events covered the three basic types of poker -- draw, stud, and flop games -- and two of the three limits, missing only Pot-Limit. Two of the five games were lowball, while three were high-only, so only hi/lo games were missing from the original mix.
