- 1978: $5,000 Pot-Limit Five-Card Stud With 32-Card Deck Cancelled
Four years after a 52-card Five-Card Stud tournament was last held at the WSOP, attempt to resurrect the game with a short deck abandoned.
- 1987: Artie Cobb Wins $5,000 Seven-Card Stud for Second Bracelet
Defeats field of 71 for $142,000 after falling behind 354,500 to 500 heads up against Don Williams.
- 1989: Mel Judah Wins $1,500 Seven-Card Stud for Australia's First Bracelet
Defeats field of 218 for $130,800.
- 1991: Mim Penney Wins Female Record $88,750
Finishes second in $5,000 Seven-Card Stud to become leading female money winner, while Thomas Chung wins his second bracelet and $142,000. Incredibly, Chung's only other bracelet came two years earlier when Robin Brown set the previous women's record for biggest prize.
- 1992: Phil Hellmuth Wins $5,000 Limit Hold 'Em for Second Bracelet
Defeats field of 84 for $168,000.
- 1993: Marsha Waggoner Becomes First Woman to Cash Twice in a Year
Finishes 8th in Ladies Championship for $2,460 two days after finishing 24th in $1,500 No-Limit Hold 'Em for $2,500.
- 1994: Barbara Enright Becomes First Woman With Two Bracelets
Defeats field of 96 for her second Ladies Championship and $38,400 eight years after her first. Runner-up Natalie Ryke was bought in ($1,000) as a Mother's Day gift from her daughter Linda and turns it into $22,080.
- 1994: Jack Keller Inducted Into Poker Hall of Fame
Keller won the 1984 WSOP Main Event winner and reached two other Main Event final tables. He earned two other bracelets and is one of only two players to win both the WSOP and Super Bowl of Poker Main Events (with Stu Ungar).
- 1996: Barbara Enright Wins $2,500 Pot-Limit Hold 'Em to Become First Woman With Three Bracelets
Defeats field of 180 for women's record $180,000 for her first open bracelet to go with her two Ladies Championships (1986 and 1994). Three women reach an open final table for the first time, with Lucy Rokach finishing 3rd for $45,000 and Jennifer Harman 6th for $15,750.

Defeats field of 217 for $237,615 and record three bracelets by a husband and wife (Maria) in a single year.
- 2000: Huck Seed Wins $1,500 Razz for Third Bracelet
Defeats field of 129 for $77,400. Between the first and second days, Seed started playing the next tournament ($3,000 Pot-Limit Hold 'Em) and was still alive in both when Tournament Director Chuck Thompson told him it wasn't allowed because the tournaments used the same chips.
- 2001: Jay Heimowitz Wins Debut Seniors Championship for Sixth Bracelet
Defeats field of 340 for $115,430 in the 50-year age minimum "Oklahoma Johnny Hale Seniors World Championship of Poker", which had run outside the WSOP for its first three years.
- 2003: Johnny Chan Wins $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha for Ninth Bracelet, Second of Year
Defeats field of 85 for $158,100 to tie Moss and Brunson for the career bracelet lead.
