- 1972: Amarillo Slim Preston Wins 1972 WSOP Main Event
Defeats field of eight players, including Puggy Pearson heads up, for $80,000 and second bracelet.
- 1974: Johnny Moss Wins 1974 WSOP Main Event
Defeats field of 16 players, including Crandell Addington heads up, for his third world championship and fourth bracelet, the first actual gold bracelet ever awarded.
- 1980: T. Blondie Forbes Inducted Into Poker Hall of Fame
Forbes is credited with creating the game of Texas Hold 'Em and was also a strong Five-Card Stud player.
- 1980: WSOP Pays Out 200th Prize
Dick Carson fifth in $1,000 No-Limit Hold 'Em for $6,900, the 200th prize awarded in WSOP history.
- 1988: Jesse Alto Reaches Record Eighth Main Event Final Table
Finishes 9th for $21,000 to go with three unpaid top 6 finishes from 1974 to 1976, 5th in 1978 ($21,000), 2nd in 1984 ($132,000), 6th in 1985 ($42,000), and 4th in 1986 ($62,700).

Wins $114,180 and Last Woman Standing title as first female to reach Main Event final table. Takes over as leading female money winner ($170,960) from Marsha Waggoner, who had just become number one by placing third in the $2,500 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo twelve days earlier.

Exits in 4th place for $173,000.
- 1995: Dan Harrington Wins 1995 WSOP Main Event
Defeats field of 273, including Howard Goldfarb heads up, for $1,000,000 for his second bracelet of year (won $2,500 No-Limit Hold 'Em for $249,000 just five days earlier).
- 2000: Chris Ferguson Wins 2000 WSOP Main Event
Defeats field of 512 for record $1,500,000 and his second bracelet of the year. T.J. Cloutier finishes second for $896,500 fifteen years after also finishing second and becomes the all-time WSOP money leader.
- 2001: Stu Ungar Inducted Into Poker Hall of Fame
Ungar was the only player to win the WSOP Main Event three times (1980, 1981, and 1997) and had two other bracelets. He was also the only three-time Super Bowl of Poker Main Event winner.
- 2001: Phil Hellmuth Last Champ Standing in Main Event
Exits in 5th place for $303,705.
- 2001: Carlos Mortensen Wins 2001 WSOP Main Event
Defeats field of 613 for $1,500,000 and Spain's first bracelet. Dewey Tomko finishes second for $1,098,925 nineteen years after also finishing second, setting a record for longest span between Main Event final tables.
