- 1979: Poker Hall of Fame Inducts First Seven Members
Johnny Moss (3-time world champ with four other bracelets), Nick Dandolos (high stakes gambler), Corky McCorquodale (Texas road gambler who introduced Texas Hold 'Em to Las Vegas), Red Winn (high stakes all-around player and Seven-Card Stud maestro), Sid Wyman (High-stakes player who owned the Sands, Riviera, Royal Nevada, and Dunes casinos), Wild Bill Hickok (frontier lawman who was murdered while playing poker), and Edmond Hoyle (card game rules maven) form Hall's first class. [Moss would win two more bracelets after joining the HOF.]

Comedian and actor is unfortunately the money bubble boy.
- 1981: Chip Reese Wins "Most Valuable Player" Award
Makes four final tables, each in a different game (No-Limit Hold 'Em, Limit Ace-to-Five Draw, No-Limit Deuce-to-Seven Draw, and Seven-Card Stud).
- 1981: Stu Ungar Wins 1981 WSOP Main Event to Defend Title
Defeats field of 75, including Perry Green heads up, for $375,000, third bracelet, and second of year. Former champ Bobby Baldwin reaches 9-player final table with chip lead but falls in seventh for $15,000.
- 1982: Tom Abdo Inducted Into Poker Hall of Fame
Abdo was a high stakes cash game player often found at the Big Game at the Aladdin casino.
- 1986: Henry Green Inducted Into Poker Hall of Fame
Green was a road gambler and great all-around poker player.
- 1986: Wendeen Eolis Becomes First Woman to Cash in WSOP Main Event
Although she only wins her buyin back by finishing 25th of 141 players, Eolis makes a nice profit when Austin Squatty bets on her to cash and sells some of his action to her.
- 1986: Gabe Kaplan Finishes 21st in WSOP Main Event
Wins his entry fee back five days after winning $10,650 for an eighth place finish in the $5,000 No-Limit Deuce-to-Seven Draw.
- 1986: Jesse Alto Reaches Third Consecutive Main Event Final Table
Exits in 4th for $62,700 after coming in 3rd in 1984 for $132,000 and 6th in 1985 for $42,000.
- 1987: Johnny Chan Wins 1987 WSOP Main Event
Defeats field of 152, including Frank Henderson heads up, for $625,000 and second bracelet to become the first foreign-born Main event winner.
- 2003: Annie Duke Last Woman Standing in WSOP Main Event
Finishes 47th for $20,000 and becomes the first woman to cash in the Main Event three times (26th in 1994 for $16,800 and 10th in 2000 for $52,160).
