1988: Doyle Brunson and Jack Straus Inducted Into Poker Hall of Fame Brunson won back-to-back WSOP Main Events in 1976 and 1977 and four other WSOP tournaments, while Straus won the 1982 WSOP Main Event after being down to just a single, forgotten chip. [Brunson would win four more bracelets after joining the HOF]
1990: Benny Binion Inducted Into Poker Hall of Fame Binion bought the Eldorado Club and the Apache Hotel in 1951 and reopened them as Binion's Horseshoe Casino, where he would introduce the World Series of Poker in 1970.
