Main Event Final Hand
[Hide Final Hand]

Although Bill Smith is slightly behind when heads-up play begins, he takes the lead when his pocket Kings hold on against T.J. Cloutier's pocket Nines.

In possession of about three-fourths of the chips, Smith raises with pocket Threes. Cloutier only needs to peek at one hole card, an Ace, to decide to move all in.

After Smith calls, Cloutier discovers the bad news that he is a 2-to-1, dominated underdog. The board provides no help, and he has to settle for the $280,000 second prize.

Smith earns $700,000, the bracelet, the title, and eternal poker fame.
