Main Event Final Hand
[Hide Final Hand]

Hugh Vincent is crippled when he runs a big bluff into Russ Hamilton's set of Queens and is very short-stacked. When he hits top pair on the flop, he leads out then calls Hamilton's raise to get all in. He is unable to pair his terrible kicker on the turn or river and has to settle for the second prize of $588,000.

Hamilton wins the then-standard million dollars, but in honor of the WSOP's Silver Anniversary, he also earns his weight in silver as a bonus. The scale tops out at 300 pounds, but his estimated 330 pounds, more than double Vincent's weight, is matched by 43 silver bars then valued at $28,512.
