Most Cashes in One WSOP

With the World Series of Poker moving online for the summer of 2020, Daniel Negreanu smashed the record for cashes despite the number of events dropping from 2019. The Canadian was one of the few players to compete in both U.S. (WSOP.com) and world (GGPoker) events, racking up an impressive 37 cashes.

But Roland Israelashvili would take the record for a second time the very next year with 39 cashes, Yueqi Zhu would push it to 45 in 2023, and Ryan Riess would set the current bar at 49 in 2024.

Notes:

• Moss also won the 1970 championship vote, but there was no tournament to "cash" in that year. All of the 1971 events were winner-take-all, so he became the first to cash twice by winning two of the five events.
• Pearson won three events for his three 1973 cashes. Gary Berland tied the record in 1978.
• Jack Keller tied Reese's record with four cashes in 1986.
• Phil Hellmuth tied Tran with seven cashes in 2001 and Ferguson with eight in 2006. Humberto Brenes also tied Ferguson in 2006, while Chad Brown and Michael Binger matched them in 2007.
• Because of the almost continual increase in the number of events each year, the percentage of available events in which each record holder has cashed has gone almost straight down. Keller cashed in one third of the events in 1986, while Puchkov only cashed in 15.9% (18.0% if you ignore WSOP Europe and Asia-Pacific). Only Hellmuth's and Negreanu's records represented a higher percentage of events than the previous record-holder's.
• Puchkov also holds the EPT career record for cashes.
• Ferguson also held the record for most cashes in a year, including WSOP Europe and WSOP Asia-Pacific, as he added six cashes in Europe in 2017 for a total of 23.
• Arkadiy Tsinis was the first player to cash 30 times in a year three times: 33 in 2021, 34 in 2002, and 31 in 2023.

The women's record was destined to fall soon with the continual increase in events, but Michelle Shah obliterated the record during the 2020 summer online WSOP, cashing 22 times out of only 54 possible GGPoker events. She could have pushed the record considerably higher but chose not play at WSOP.com despite being an American.

Notes:

• One of Waggoner's cashes was in the Ladies Limit Seven-Card Stud tournament. None of the other record-setters included a Ladies event.
• Annie Duke tied Waggoner's record with three cashes in 1994 before breaking it the next year.
• Violette and Harman made the money for the fifth time within hours of each other in separate events in 2005.
• Ho's cashes included Hold 'Em, Omaha, Seven-Card Stud, and Dealer's Choice events.
• Other notable years for women include six cashes each for Cherish Andrews and Vanessa Selbst in 2012 and Loni Harwood and Melanie Weisner in 2013.
• Kathy Liebert tied Shah's record with 21 cashes in 2024.
